Hayato Machida

Hayato Machida leads the wave of emerging young artists in Okinawa, Japan. Dubbed the “Hawaii of Japan”, Okinawa itself is what the artist has has defined “his strength”

The theme of his artwork is the ambivalence of everyday feelings, stirred in him when vaguely looking at beautiful things that are natural but artificially made.

Born in Okinawa, Japan, after entering the Okinawa International University, he spent a semester in NY where the close contact with the local art scene shaped his future path. Winner of the "Turner Award 2018" Future Award, Hayato has held several solo exhibitions in Okinawa and participated to multiple brand collaborations, such as Starbucks Coffee Japan and Adidas Japan.
